Privacy Policy

10 Second Spanish ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile app operated by ENKIVA GLOBAL LLC that teaches Spanish through short video stories and interactive exercises. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address. If you choose to sign in with Google, we also receive the basic profile information Google shares with us, which is your name, email, and profile photo.
• Profile settings: your public nickname, your chosen interface language, and the proficiency level you select for yourself. The nickname comes from a fixed list built into the app. You never type it, and it contains no personal information.
• Learning progress: which lessons you have completed, your scores, your streak, your XP, and your spaced-repetition history, which records the words and phrases you are learning and when they are due for review.
• Device notification preferences: whether you have turned on streak or review reminders. These reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not run a push notification server, so we never receive or store a notification token.
• Usage analytics: which lessons you start or complete, your score and XP for a completed lesson, how you rate your review cards, which screens you view, and when you open or close the app. This is linked to your account identifier so that we can understand how the app is used and improve it.

Analytics

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. For example, we look at which lessons people finish and where they get stuck. PostHog processes this data on servers located in the European Union. We do not collect the content of anything you type, your contacts, or any advertising identifiers. The app never asks for location permission, and we do not use your device's location. We have also turned off our analytics provider's IP-based location lookup, so no approximate location is derived from your connection. When you sign out, we clear the analytics identifier associated with your device.

We do not show ads, we do not use third-party advertising or tracking services, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

How we use your information

• To create and maintain your account and learning progress across devices.
• To schedule your spaced-repetition review queue and calculate your streak and XP.
• To send you local reminder notifications, if you have turned them on.
• To show your nickname and weekly XP to other users on the weekly leaderboard, which lists everyone who earned XP that week. Your nickname is assigned automatically when your account is created, and it pairs a Spanish animal with an adjective, for example "El Lobo Rápido." You can change it at any time from the Profile tab by picking from the same fixed list. You never type it, and no other profile information is shown to other users.
• To provide customer support when you contact us.

Where your data is stored

Your account and learning data are stored using Supabase, our backend infrastructure provider, on servers located in the European Union. Video content is delivered through a content delivery network (Bunny.net), which does not receive any personal account information. Usage analytics are processed by PostHog, also on servers located in the European Union.

Third-party sign-in

If you choose "Continue with Google", Google handles the authentication and shares only your basic profile information with us. We never see or store your Google password. Refer to Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles your data.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from the Profile tab in the app. Deletion takes effect immediately and removes all of your data. If you would rather we did it for you, contact us at the email below and we will process the request within 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, for example under the EU's GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

Children's privacy

10 Second Spanish is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves, for example when we introduce subscriptions or new features. We will update the "last updated" date above whenever we do, and for significant changes we will let you know in the app.
